25:35 Ministries helping the homeless across St. Louis

Homelessness is a Fearful Place

Homeless people often have no one who cares for them. Their families have abandoned them or cannot cope with their problems.

They are alone. They are invisible and forgotten – sleeping under bridges, in stairwells, or in the woods.

When they camp at places of business or on government property, they are newsworthy subjects.

Their names and faces unknown, but their presence a disgrace. They are evicted over and over.

The homeless have illnesses ranging from addiction, mental illness, and cancer to COPD, organ failure, and PTSD.

The society in which they live is harsh and largely unsympathetic.

The kinds of fears we have pale compared to those of the homeless. These unfortunate people can be utterly ravaged by fear.
